nataru jŒhiò bana tīniu bhŒī, bahuria sīya sahita raghurŒī. jehi bidhi prabhu prasanna mana hoī, karunŒ sŒgara kījia soī.1. deva¡ dīnha sabu mohi abhŒrµu, more¡ nīti na dharama bicŒrµu. kahau¡ bacana saba svŒratha hetµu, rahata na Œrata ke ¡ cita cetµu.2. utaru dei suni svŒmi rajŒī, so sevaku lakhi lŒja lajŒī. asa mai ò avaguna udadhi agŒdhµu, svŒmi saneha ¡ sarŒhata sŒdhµu.3. aba kṛpŒla mohi so mata bhŒvŒ, sakuca svŒmi mana jŒi ò na pŒvŒ. prabhu pada sapatha kahau¡ sati bhŒµu, jaga maṅgala hita eka upŒµu.4.

“Or (as a third alternative) we three brothers may remain in the forest, while S¶tŒ and yourself may return to AyodhyŒ. Do that, O ocean of mercy, which may please your heart, my lord. You have thrown the whole burden on me, my master; but I have no ethical insight nor any idea of religion. I am actuated by self-interest in whatever I say; a man in distress loses his senses. Shame herself would be ashamed to look at a servant who evades compliance with an order given by his master. Even though I am such an unfathomable ocean of faults, my master (yourself) out of affection for me praises me as a noble soul. Now, O merciful one, I will submit to that proposition which will spare my lord an awkward situation.
