jaba jadubaṁsa kṛṣna avatŒrŒ, hoihi harana mahŒ mahibhŒrŒ. kṛṣna tanaya hoihi pati torŒ, bacanu anyathŒ hoi na morŒ.1. rati gavanī suni saṅkara bŒnī, kathŒ apara aba kahau ¡ bakhŒnī. devanha samŒcŒra saba pŒe, brahmŒdika baikuṁ¢ha sidhŒe.2. saba sura biṣnu birañci sametŒ, gae jahŒ ¡ siva kṛpŒniketŒ. pṛthaka pṛthaka tinha kīnhiprasaṁsŒ, bhae prasanna candra avataṁsŒ.3. bole kṛpŒsindhu bṛṣaketµu, kahahu amara Œe kehi hetµu. kaha bidhi tumha prabhu antarajŒmī, tadapi bhagati basa binavau ¡ svŒmī.4.

“When Ýr¶ K¾ƒ˜a will descend in the line of Yadu to relieve the earth of its heavy burden, your lord will be born again as His son (Pradyumna); this prediction of Mine can never be untrue.” Hearing the words of Ýa˘kara, Rati went away. I now proceed to relate the subsequent part of the story. When BrahmŒ (the Creator) and the other gods received all the tidings, they repaired to Vaiku˜¢ha (the abode of God Viƒ˜u). Thence all the gods, including Viƒ˜u and ViraÛc¶ (BrahmŒ), went where the all-merciful Ýiva was. They severally extolled and won the pleasure of the Lord whose crest is adorned by the crescent. Ýiva, who is an ocean of compassion and has a bull emblazoned on His standard, said, “Tell me, immortals, what has brought you here?” To this BrahmŒ replied, “Lord, You are the inner controller of all; even then, my master, my devotion to You urges me to make the following submission— (1—4)
